2 ISPS on one unmanaged switch

Hi everybody.

My question is actually pretty simple. I have 2 ISP's at my home ( both with static ip ).

I would like to connect both of them to one unmanaged switch and connect my PC also.

I would like if I configure my PC with the ip provided by ISP #1, for the switch to know that and direct trafic to ISP #1, and ignore the cable from the ISP #2, and vice versa, if I configure my PC with the IP from the ISP #2 to direct trafic to the second ISP and ignore the first one.

Will this work or not ?

Managing 4G Routers Externally

Good morning,

In the company I work in, we use alot of 4G routers for our external sites (so construction sites can have the internet). However is there any website/software which we can use to monitor and administrate these routers?

All of the routers run from a 4G sim card so aren't linked to our domain.

The routers we use are TP-Link MR6400

Much appreciated for your suggestions.

VOIP phones and PCs - same cable or dedicated?

Hi all.

Just after a quick show of hands, preferably from networking 'experts' or solution providers.

When deploying a new VOIP environment, we'll be deploying POE devices (which is new) and the recommendation from everyone we've spoken to, which includes networking consultants, is to run a single cable to the desk, and use the switch in the VOIP handset to tail off to the laptop/PC.

They've all assured us that with VLANs and decent switches, you will never suffer any degradation in performance, as the VOIP handset bandwidth is so minimal.

Aside from the simplicity of 1 device, 1 cable - is there any reason not to go with single cables to desks?

Thanks in advance. Alan

High Utilization- Where Do I Rate Limit?

$

We keep getting alerts that utilization to one of our sites in our mpls cloud is over 80% and have decided that Rate Limiting is the solution we want to use to resolve the issue. Using netflow we have confirmed who the source is that is sending traffic to the site as well as the host at the site receiving the traffic. We also confirmed the traffic is for legit purposes as one server in our main data center is delivering the traffic (lets not get into that any further). Since the over utilization of the circuit has become a trend & the traffic has been classified as legit where should I configure the rate limiting? Having never done this before I have 2 options in mind but not sure which is best. Since I manage all routers in the scenario, option one would be to configure rate limiting on the source router (the site sending tons of...

Hello everyone,I've been working with Windows Server environments for the last 10 years professionally, certified MCSA/E 2008R2 and 2012 + CCNA, but when dealing with deployment of Windows Server 2016 after a fire... ISP handoff to L2 Switch to FW

Hello,

I'm designing a new ISP install and have decided to have the ISP handoff go to a L2 switch, then the L2 switch to a firewall, then to the core L3 switch. I would like some advice on the configuration.

The ISP router to the L2 switch will be the "outside vlan" on the switch. On the same "outside vlan" my outside interface on the firewall will be connected to that. The firewall inside interface will be connected to the L3 core switch.

The port on the ISP router that's handed off to me and the outside interface on my firewall will be in the same subnet (L2 switch in the middle) and the firewall's inside interface and core L3 switch will be a routed interface in its own vlan.

Management interface vlan on the L2 switch connected to my L3 switch so I can access the L2 switch from inside.

Any suggestions\recommendations or advice on the...

Is reverse tethering possible from PC to iPhone?

Is it possible to tether an iPhone to a PC by using a USB cable to share the PC's internet connection with the iPhone?

I've been scouring the interwebs for a solution and there are articles out there that claim to have achieved this but I haven't been able to make any of those solutions work.

Has anyone here successfully achieved this?

The PC is Windows 7 on Ethernet connection.

iPhone 8 iOS 11.4.1.

Hello,

I'm fighting with the HP ProCure 2610 switches (L2 +static) for few days already.

What I'm trying to achieve is to have 3 Vlan's (Data, Voice, Management), and there is another 3 switches connected to it.

Segmenting guest user on wired network

A client of mine is sub-leasing a part of their office to a 3rd party company. This 3rd party company plans to use the currently available Internet in the office. There is only 1 network jack on the wall where this person will sit.

I want to segmentthem from the main network so they can't access any servers or information. I could use VLAN, but I'm a little concerned about the security issues that surround VLAN (MAC and ARP attacks, VLAN hopping). The person leasing this office space is a lawyer. I have some reasonable expectation that this user isn't intending on infiltrating the company to hack them and steal their information (he's a friend of the CEO who just needs some office space to see his clients and such). But, I can't/won't let my guard down (I have to keep an eye on everyone, even the execs).

So, aside from the security...

Enterprise-grade firewall behind a consumer-grade router

I am setting up a backup connection to my firewall. This connection will almost never be used as our ISP is very reliable. However, there have been issues (typically acts of god or nature) that have interrupted us at times.

So we have a FiOS business connection ready to be hooked up and they set it up with a router. It's the same type of router used in homes. The proper thing would be to just get rid of it and go directly into the available port in my firewall and configure it as a backup. However, while I have had it sitting here without the time to configure it as a backup it has been very convenient having an second pipe to the internet to use when testing and troubleshooting.

I'm wondering if I can keep the router in place and run the firewall through it. The first thing that jumped to my mind is A) double-nat'ing which I would want...

Unable to route SSID VLAN traffic

I have 3 Unifi Access Points but they are unable to route VLAN 254 and VLAN 253 traffic.

On the Sonicwall I created 2 Zones (Corp Wireless and Guest Wireless) for interface X0-V253 and X0-V254. Created DHCP range for both VLAN's. Created Access rules for both VLAN subnets.

There Dell PoE switch is complete on VLAN1 and port 48 is trunked to the sonicwall. The Unifi Access Points are connected to a Dell PoE swtich (port 1/2/3) and the Dell swtich (port 48) in connected to Sonicwall (port X4). Port X4 of the sonicwall is configured as Portsheild to X0

On the Unifi Controller If I configure the SSID on a default VLAN the users can connect to the SSID gets an IP from 192.168.25.0 subnet and it works fine. But if I change the SSID VLAN to 253 or 254, the users won't get an IP.

Can anyone help me out in get the VLAN working for the Access...

Adding a second modem to extend range of wifi
I have disabled DHCP on the second modem
The first one's address is 192.168.1.1
If the range of address is 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.50
Do I give the second modem an ip outside of that range or maybe to last ip in that range
Thanks

install 3 TP-LINK AP's to Vtech Router

I have 3 TP-LINK AP's. Two TL-WA801ND and one TL-WA901ND

My internet gateway (router) is VTECH NB-403 and it has Wireless service.

My goal is to support WIFI coverage to all the area

All the TP devices are connected to the router.

The gateway delivers IP by DHCP. The range is (10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.199). The router has a static IP 10.0.0.138.

I have installed all of the AP's as AP mode.

I gave every device a static IP (10.0.0.200, 10.0.0.201, 10.0.0.202)

I disabled DHCP service in all of TP devices so the client can receive its IP from the VTECH router.

I gave all the AP and the router the same SSID and password to enable and to facilitate roaming from space to another.

Initially, at the installation, process clients could connect the closest AP and take received IP and there was an internet connection. Everything was good

At some...
