Change procurve password successfully

When I change the factory default password to anything, then log out, and try logging in again, the password I changed it to doesn't work!

I use the clear button on the front to start again. I've tried many different passwords to set the default web GUI to, and no good.

Any tips/tricks gang?

I know some Cisco CLI, so, if this needs to be done via the console, I can do it.

Odd thing is, we have an 8 port, a 24 port, and 2 managed 48 port Gi switches, and the only ones giving me issues are the managed 48 port ones. I didn't want to call support if I don't have to.
