I have one user in an office of 60ish people/machines.
She is in the same spot as she has been for over a year. She keeps loosing network connection. Still shows having an IP but just won't connect to any network or internet resources.
My long list of things I have tried or looked at.
- Tested cable from wall jack to her phone (Polycom 331 with built in switch)
- Tested cable from phone to computer
- Replaced cable from wall jack to phone
- Replaced cable from phone to computer
- Removed phone from chain (direct computer to wall jack)
- Moved to different wall jack (on same wall plate and even a different wall plate half-way across the room) all with tested cables.
- Replaced the computer (used several AV and AM software packages to scan her user files before moving them to the computer) twice
- Added a second NIC to try out
- Setup statics on both On-board and second NIC
- Checked and double checked the AD/DC machine to see if there where any DHCP conflicts (we use our AD/DC for DHCP leasing) - we have about 30 IPs available
- Replaced the switch that serves up the room that she is working in.
This is a sporadic issue that comes up for days on end or once in a blue moon. In fact we went nearly 3 months until this issue started up again. In the last 4 weeks I've done all this work to see what I could do.
Since no one else in her office has issues (about 10 people all together/ 20-ish devices) I don't think that it is a DHCP or switch issue.
I can't imagine it is a bad line since I've tested other her on other lines that have had active users on them.
I don't believe that it is a virus issue since even one of the computers was setup without her data on it when we started having issues in that location. I can't believe that it is interference since others are on both wall plates I've tested her on and no one else has issues.
I'm also sure that the image that I used to build her machine (we have an image server using Clonezilla) since I have 2 others in that office using the same image I'm using on her machine.
My manager, co-workers, and self are completely confused. I'm going to stick my head in the ceiling later today to see if I can find any possible issues but doubt that I will.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
