Cost effective VPN solution/Do we even need it?

I work for a brewery and we have around 30 pubs, each of which have their own PC for stock keeping software, emails, MS Office. Just simple stuff. What benefits would we derive from making them part of a a VPN? The main benefit I can see is that they could save data to our servers where it is backed up. But perhaps there would be other benefits...
