Fairpoint ADSL PPPOE Errors

I have a client that has Fairpont ADSL. Fairpoint provided a ADSL Wireless Router. I set this router up in Bridge Mode and then connected it to a Netscreen 5gt Firewall and configured the Netscreen with the PPPOE settings. Everything was working fine.

They lost the internet connection and does not matter what I do I cannot get the netscreen to connect by PPPOE.

I rest the Fairpoint Router, configured PPPOE and that will connect, switch it back to Bridge and try the Netscreen and it gives error saying "PAD Timeout". I have also tried a Cisco SMB firewall and I have the same issue with PPPOE. I have had both routers connect and they will work fine for a week or so then they will stop connecting. The only ay to keep a stable connection is to use the Fairpoint DSL Router as the gateway and not in Bridge Mode.

The reason for the extra firewall is that this client has a Public PC setup and I have this on its own VLAN and the Fairpoint router does not support VLAN's.

Have any Ideas what could cause PPPOE to error out when using any router other then fairpoints? I have tried to talk to Fairpoint but they keep saying it is our equipment and not there equipment since it works with the router they provide.

Should I get router that supports VLAN's that has a built in ADSL Modem? If so any ideas on a Router?

What is strange is I have one other client that has the same setup and it works fine.
