Can I make my network redundant?

Hi,

Currently I am putting together what I need on a shoestring budget to get a redundant network...

We currently have 2 non-managed 1Gb switches that I would like to make for a fail over on our vSphere network...

Our current setup is as follows:

2 ESXi servers with 4 NIC's each. 2x management, 2x VM data (no current vMotion or other cool tricks in place)

1 switch which all ethernets plug into.

1 Cisco ASA 5505

Now, what I would like to do:

2 ESXi servers with 4 NIC's each. 2x management, 2x VM data

2x Switches with 1 of each team in each switch. The idea is that if the switch drops out the other connection will be still running and no network connectivity will be lost... with a uplink between the switches.

I know the Cisco is capable of creating a failover port so this isn't a problem at the moment.

Techincally my theory should work - however I'm not sure how the vSphere teaming works.. would plugging into multiple switches cause lost packets?

Thanks in advance.
