A weird thing started happening a few weeks ago.
Random PCs stopping being connected to our network.
PC shows a yellow symbol on NIC card icon on taskbar.
Will give 169._______ IP
So far I have tried, changing out cabling, put PC in a different room, removing and reinstalled NIC drivers, changing DNS, Changing WINS settings. Nothing.
The only way I can get our users running again is to give the machines a fixed IP then they will work.
This happens to PCs and laptops with WinXP or Win7 on fixed or wireless connections.
This is only happens in our headquarters (which is also where the DC is of course.)
DHCP Is taken care of by our ISP, Bezeq international (most common ISP in Israel)
We have not done any changes to our servers or network in a while. I do the server patches carefully once every so often manually.
our network has always had odd topology issues which we have been trying to get to the bottom of so far unsuccsefuly, but nothing like this
any ideas?
