We use older switches with only 100Mbit ports. I was thinking of adding a gigabit switch with a fiber module, and connecting it to a gigabit fiber module on the main 100Mbit switch. I would then connect our database server and and possibly some other servers to the gigabit switch. Do you think this would improve/increase throughput to the database server? One issue I see, is that the main 100Mbit switch's backplane is only 3.8Gbps.
Any recommendations, other than replacing our switches with something newer? :-)
Thanks,
Rod
