YAVLANQ (Yet another VLAN question)

Hi all,

First time poster here on SpiceWorks!

I'm doing my best to struggle through setting up a few VLANs. My reason for doing so is because I run both personal and business computers as well as a VM server (Proxmox) and I'd like the business VMs and PCs isolated from the personal VMs and PCs. To further complicate matters I have two clients who I run VMs for on the Proxmox server and I would also like to separate those from eachother as well (whiich I can probably do in software only on the server but I am unsure if that is all that is needed).

I'm running myself in circles trying to figure out which ports need to be tagged/untagged or completely left blank. Currently I have factory reset the switch so I can start fresh. Can anyone recommend how to set this switch up in regards to port tag/untagging.

Hardware wise I have the following

  • 24 Port Netgear GS724T
  • Proxmox server has 4 physical VLAN capable NICs (Ports 13-16)
  • Engenius ECB-9500 Wifi router/bridge in AP mode. Capable of 4 SSIDs with each SSID able to be separated onto a different VLAN (Port 24)
  • 1 Laptop that will connect via wifi
  • 2 Desktops that connect to the GS724T (desktop 1 - Port 8, desktop 1 - Port 22)

Quite long winded but I wanted to be as precise as possible. If possible, I would like the following;

  • Single SSID on the wifi to have the ability to access all VLANs (this might not be possible)
  • 1 desktop only access to my personal VLAN (lets call it VLAN10)
  • 1 desktop can access all VLANS
  • The VMs on the Proxmox server will be isolated into 3 VLANS, personal (VLAN10), client1 (VLAN20), client2 (VLAN30)
  • The default management VLAN is VLAN1, all ports on VLAN1 are untagged and the PVID of all ports right now is the default 1

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me to wrap my head around this.
