Servers on remote collector all show as offline

For some reason, almost all of the devices on remote collector show as offline. They can be pinged from Spiceworks only if the hostname is suffixed by the domain name, eg. pc011.ourdomain.local

Both remote collector and main Spiceworks server can ping them simply by hostname.

What are we missing here?
