Coworker has been on this kick since I started about teaming the server NICs. Sadly, I have found that the HP software kicks a failed LACP standby one some servers but not others and creates just a big mess. Same drivers, software, servers, switches - different errors.
And when they fail or need to be dissolve/team then I have to plug in all the information back into the NIC. Recently there was an issue where one number was off in the DNS field (oops) and it just sent a few programs into a fit. Another time the teamed nics failed and locked me out remotely - and the teamed cards never seem to provide any benefit to the environment that I can see.
Currently I have 5 procurve unmanaged gigabit switches in use - hardly any funding goes into the racks or equipment so I cant really do much there. What I am looking for is, should I continue to pursue this teaming business when I get nothing but headaches from it? Is there another path I should be looking for or am I just s.o.l. with my current equipment?
What I would want out of teaming - increase bandwidth and redundancy.
