I have a question regarding VLANS and routing.
I'm setting up a network between an offsite data center (Site A) and an office building (Site B). The connection between them will be a 1GB bridged connection. I have two Layer 3 switches (PowerConnect 6224) that will be on either end of the connection.
My understanding is that it's best to setup my VLANS all on Site A's router and have them propagate to Site B via GVRP. This would provide one place to setup all the Vlans.
My concern however is that for any communications between VLANS exclusive to Site B, will then have to hit Site A for routing and potentially saturate the 1GB line.
Would it be better to setup VLAN's on Site B's router so it can handle the vlan routing? Is it possible to have both routers deal with VLAN routing to keep the bridged connection clean of unnecessary routing information?
