Hi,
I have been tasked with creating a computer network for a small business.
The company currently has two separate networks, these comprise of a network with internet with only 2 computers on it, these computers are only used for the internet and emails. And then also a seperate network, local only, with sage running over it, they currently run win 98se on the sage network!!!!
They are building a new office and I have been tasked with creating a new network. The business owner is seriously considering having two computers for each person, one on the internet and one offline only with sage. All for security!! They are very worried about people being able to get into the files and virus' etc.
The new network needs to be able to easily carry sage accounts professional over it. I have been looking at having one network, with one computer each, with a netgear UTM9S as a UTM device. And then the obvious internet security installed on each device. After discussing this with the business owner, he is still a bit cautious of having only 1 network all connected to the internet.
Also, for the sage setup, what would you suggest in terms of setup, eg- how to run it... For example running a server with it on, which noone access' or to just run it on the owners computer? If you suggest server, then could you suggest a server setup for this.
I would appreciate your opinions, I am trying to stay to a budget as small as possible!!
I would prefer to stay all computer hardware with Dell, just for their excellent support, but would consider lenovo.
Many thanks
