I have a windows 8 64 bit machine that I use for gateway use on my network. I have a static IP address assigned to it that is excluded from the dhcp range. The nic is an intel pro 1000 PT. Whenever I restart the machine, reset the adapter or install new nic drivers the computer detects a duplicate ip address with my assigned static ip address. If I unplug the ethernet cord and reset the nic or restart the computer then the detection of the duplicate ip address goes away.... and I don't have any issues until I do any of the before mentioned items.
The machine is connected to a 1810G 48 switch with the latest firmware (no difference with the firmware change), this problem popped up when I upgraded to a new machine with windows 8, I've run windows 7 (don't remember bit) and windows xp (32 bit) without these issues on the same switch.
Any ideas or solutions? This is making routine work more dangerous as I occasionally forget to reset the nic and the gateway doesn't function, also it presents problems when I'm on vacation or if I'm sick and the machine restarts.
