In the past our small company has paid someone for a lot of the network setup and maintenance lvl 3 and above. I installed spiceworks over the weekend. Of course it asks me for logins for switches and routers. So I emailed ole boy since I haven't yet needed that information and I asked him for it. He told me that since he managed the switches and routers that he couldn't give me the info as it would open the doors for me to view his setup which was "proprietary info". He said that AT&T and weather tap had similar agreements and he uses the same with all his customers.
1) Is that good practice on our part (the company)?
2) What if he gets hit by a train? Won't be in a mess?
3) Can't I just sign some paperwork on not giving out the info to anyone else?
