I have a 100mbps fiber internet ethernet handoff from my ISP. This connection is plugged into a fast ethernet (100mbps) port on my core Cisco switch. Would I be better off plugging it into a gigabit port? I don't appear to be getting my full bandwidth to the internet through the core switch and am wondering if that is because of the port I am using. I do understand I won't see the full 100mb up and down, however, at the ISP router and behind the firewall i'm about 80mbps up and down. At the core switch i'm about 40-50mbps up and down. I am trying to see where I am bottle necking. Thoughts?
