Use HP Procurve 3800 as router for Comcast EDI?

We have this switch HP 3800-48G-4SFP+ since it's a layer 3 switch, I could use this as our router for our new Comcast EDI 100mbs connection couldn't I?

I don't have vlans setup, I presume I would need to setup a vlan in the switch for the EDI then set acls for routing?

Since the switch is our main switch do I just assign the new vlan to a specific port?
