Are all modems equal when it comes to passing data across? I'm currently working with a school that has 2 ADSL modems.
We started out running on the cheap with what we had available. 2 modems load balanced running into a Fortigate 80C. The modems are a D-Link DSL-502-T and a Billion 7300. I'm running the modems in bridge mode so the Fortigate box is handling the connection.
We're running ADSL with a speed of 8mbps/0.3mbps on each line. (that's the fastest available in the area).
Staff and students are complaining the internet is slow. The links are not showing to be saturated at any particular time. How do I work out what is at fault here?
Are some modems better than others for handling a lot of simultaneous requests?
