Cisco VPN Linux Issue

Hi all,

I am having quite a strange issue that I can't seem to get my head around.

I use Ubuntu both at work and on my laptop at home. I use the built in Cisco VPN in Ubuntu and everything works fine when I use my laptop at other people's houses. The issue is at my own house where I need it most!!

The VPN establishes fine, but then after a couple seconds it stops to work. Not only can I not access anything on the work network but I am even unable to browse any websites whatsoever! I do not get an error to say VPN disconnected or Network disconnected it just sits there with me not being able to do anything.

Now, I should mention that I have very slow broadband speeds at my house (about 4mb). I took the laptop round to a friends last night and it worked fine. He has the same BT Home Hub router that I do and I have checked that mine is on the latest firmware.

I have tried both wireless and ethernet connections.

As far as I can tell the only difference between my house and my friends house is I have much much slower broadband speeds.

Could this really be the cause of the problem?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
