I'm no networking dude, so I'm not sure of the best way of going about this.
I have a NetGear WNDR3700v3 downstairs and at the front of the house (which is narrow but long).
I can get a signal from it at the back of the house but that signal is weak. Upstairs I can get a signal in parts of our bedroom (which is at the front) and on the landing but not much anywhere else.
Upstairs in my elder daughter's room I have a LinkSys WTR54G. This is connected by an ethernet cable to the NetGear but other than that isn't really a part of the same wireless network (it was when I had the predecessor to the NetGear but I really can't remember how I configured it but I wasn't happy with how it was done because it was still presented essentially as a separate wireless network albeit one in the same IP address space - so perhaps I can remember more than I thought!)
Anyway, what is the best way to use the LinkSys as a companion WAP to the Netgear? I'm happy to do a factory reset on it the LinkSys to start again...
We are using a 192.168.x.x range. The NetGear security is WPA2-PSK. I will be moving the NetGear to improve coverage downstairs but I doubt I'll be able to improve coverage upstairs very much by doing that.
