I manage the computers and network for a small school district that has recently had issues with YouTube videos not playing well; i.e. not queuing fast enough. Our bandwidth doesn't seem to be a problem, as we have a dedicated 20 Mbps connection, and other video playback (vimeo, MSN, etc.) works just fine. At first I thought it was the content filter, but the problem persists even after physically bypassing the filter. I've looked at the packet captures on both a client loading YouTube videos, as well as on the firewall, and I am seeing the full three-way handshake being completed and I am not seeing any RST flags. Yet the videos still load very slowly, if at all sometimes. I will also note that sometimes the gray queuing bar for the video will drop back and stop the video, so I'm not sure what might cause that. I'm scratching my head on this one. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this, or what I could check?
Thanks so much for any help!
