First post ^^
So I've had this interesting problem at my workplace. Quick backstory: this is my first real IT job, (still in university but close to graduating, woot) and I'm working for a small wholesale company as their IT person. We've got a few computers on our domain that are set up as our time-clock computers. For this to work, they need internet access. Normally they're able to connect to the internet just fine. However there are times when they'll randomly lose internet access. When this happens, it's all of those time-clock computers at once, and sometimes some of the other computers on the domain as well. When they lose internet access, they still have full domain access, and have had no change on the internal network, they just lose all outer network connections. (IE no pinging outside the network, or any like commands) Now all these timeclock computers are using Windows XP because all they need is internet access. (well, one of them is Linux, but it cuts out the same time, and it's wireless while the rest are all LAN connected.) All the rest of our domain is on windows 7, with windows 2008 R2 as our server.
I've been searching for the past couple months for a likely problem, I've messed with DHCP, DNS, the cables are good, resetting the computer doesn't affect it, nor does flushing the IP address & settings. Has anyone come across something like this before or have suggestions for what I might be able to do to fix this problem? Hope I explained it well enough, heh.
Thanks a bunch =)
