Hello,
I hope I word this as least confusing as possible :). Basically *.domainname.com resolves non-defined A-records to whatever address you are pointing that * at. Over the years we have had this point towards our main web server so if someone were to put in Bob123.domainname.com it would still resolve to our website.
Now that I am switching our web server I have concerns that some of our software using that web server may be relying on A records that haven't been defined (so using that *). I called our DNS provider and asked if there was a way to find these out and of coarse I got forwarded 3x and than got a confused "no".
I just wanted to check, there would be no way to find this on IIS correct? This is something only the DNS provider would be able to actually see?
I hate being in situations where I have to cross my finger and hope nothing breaks. Hopefully this is not one of them!
Thanks,
-Ben
