We recently bought a new computer for one of our staff and we are trying to connect it to our LAN, however the ethernet port next to where we are placing it is causing issues for us. Here's how the last IT person left it.
1. The wall jack has no connection to our LAN switch.
2. The wall jack is not labelled.
3. There is no cabling documentation at all.
I see that there is an ethernet cable running up through the wall, but I have no idea where it goes. I even tried plugging into every open port on our patch panel and could not find which one it is.
Is there an easier way to find out where the cable goes other than manually moving ceiling tiles and tracing it through two floors?
