Hey gang;
I am the Computer Guy for a construction company. One of my biggest challenges is getting technology working t remote job sites. I mean REMOTE job sites.
We have a job going in eastern Washington now with a wireless WAN connection. The ISP is a local guy that provides wireless service to a good sized area in Washington, and also to others around our job site. I am paying for 3 mb up and down, but rarely see over 2mb. I could live with that, but what I CAN'T live with is the .19 mb and .25 mb speeds that I generally get throughout the day.
The ISP says he sees a lot of throughput, and sometimes we are pegging our 3mb. I don't see how that could be with only a couple guys in the job trailer during the day, and generally out in the field working. He has run tests but sees no problem. I run speedtest.net and see something is wrong. Of course, the job site is 10 hours away, so I am relying on the Superintendent and a LogMeIn session to do my troubleshooting.
We rely on the circuit to run our Verizon Cell Phone Extender, which should work just swell over this connection. The ISP has several of them in service with good results - at 3 mb speeds, not .25 mb
Anyone out there well versed in wireless WAN that could give me some ideas?
