Cost Effective Access Layer Switches

So I'm looking for some cost effective 48 port access layer switches for desktops, printers, IP phones, etc. I don't see any need for a bunch of layer 3 functionality here.

The Cisco 2960s seem very popular but was looking at other comparable options from other manufactures. Was looking at options from HP, Dell, and Netgear but need some help.

  • HP 2920?
  • Netgear 4100 or 5300?
  • Dell ?

The Cisco units will most likely get turned down because of cost. So I'm looking for something similar or better for less. Will be getting two switches now. One for the desktop devices, another for VoIP (PoE if budget allows). Stackable for further expansion down the line.

I like the look of the HP 2920 compared to the Cisco 2960s but not sure if I'm missing anything important and what I'd be sacrificing if anything.

Thanks for any input you have.
