Hi Guys,
I Need some advice our network went down today we lost connectivity to all our servers intermittently, internet and phone system.
There is a suspicion that it may of been a switching loop, But as far as we know it was an internal issue but we don't exactly know how to find out what might have caused it. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
I have a few questions.
- Our patch panelling/Cabling in the office isn't the best so the workaround for this was having dummy switches under each desk, dummy switches cannot enable STP so we cannot counter a switching loop before it explodes. Would you suggest changing all the dummy switches to managed switches or redoing the office cables?
- Also, just a question about switch loops, some of our users were still able to work, but at a very slow rate and connection to our data center servers had an intermittent PING. I Thought that would rule out the factor of a switching loop as a switch loop uses "all available bandwidth"
