Hello Everyone,
I have a customer who has around 35 apple tv's hooked up to their network and who has multiple wireless SSID's that reside on different VLAN's. In order to allow individuals to contact the apple tv's across the layer 3 subnets I have implemented a bonjour gateway (Linux server running Avahi). Although now when users go to their iPad or Macbook and look for airplay devices the units no longer have just their original hostname listed e.g. Apple TV Room 127. Instead now they have a number in parenthesis (2)..(5)...(13) appended to them.
If I had naming conflicts I'd understand but each apple tv is named after the room it's located in, and I have yet to see two devices with the same name but different MAC. The environment consists of a couple switch stacks made up of Cisco 3750x's. The wireless is being facilitated by a Meru 1550 wireless controller. The Avahi server is running on Ubuntu 12.04 with four virtual interfaces configured for each VLAN.
If anyone has ran into a similar issue and has an idea of how to fix this I would be highly appreciative.
Thanks,
Seikai
