Hi there, can anyone help with suggestions on selecting a business grade router to handle VPN and WiFi activity for 30-40 users. Here are some of the requirements:
- It needs to remain current for 3 years.
- The budget I have in mind is up to $ 2500 USD.
- I'm a quick learner regarding configuration; but want to stay away from a command line interface if possible.
Current Network Particulars
- 30-40 Windows work-group users running a mixture of Win 7 and 8 Home Premium editions.
- One stand-alone WS2k8R2 machine providing File and RRAS server roles.
- 5 Users work out of a remote branch using Windows VPN to individually connect to the file server. Another 5 work from various site offices using a mobile data service to connect with the file server via VPN. The remainder of users work out of the Head Office and connect to the local Lan via wired ethernet and WiFi.
- Most non-internet traffic is updating various office documents which are generally under a few MBs in size.
- The current router is a cheap, unassuming looking jobbie provided by the ISP.
I plan to bring all users into a Windows Domain Environment hosted on a new server. The existing server will be demoted to the remote office to be a Branch Cache or Mirror. A new router would need to handle this trasition.
The Cisco Small Business series looks attractive at first glance, but multiple reviews warn to keep clear of them.
All advice would be appreciated.
