Hello,
So we are still in the process of setting up some of the more advanced features on our LAN switches but in the meantime, we have a fairly straightforward setup. All standard clients are DHCP and are connected via wireless access points with a few being hard wired to the switch.
Printers, access points, switch interfaces, etc. are assigned static IPs on the devices themselves.
In the current setup, I recognized that just by inadvertently setting a device IP to the same as the gateway IP (silly mistakes can happen) and plugging it into a wired port can cause the gateway to become unreachable.
In the absence of configuring DHCP snooping and the whole works, is there a feature I can use on the switch to effectively "lock" or restrict certain IPs to specific MAC addresses so that nothing is routed to/from any other devices that may be assigned those IPs?
Thanks.
