Hi everyone,
I have an existing Shoretel system with about 100 phones, and we just bought 17 brand new Juniper EX3300 series switches to replace our current network infrastructure.
The problem is, when I daisy-chain the computers through the phones, the computer will randomly drop pings and other traffic to random devices on my network (SAN's, the router, servers, the switch it's connected to, etc.). When it does this, it will drop packets for an extended period of time anywhere from 15 seconds to a couple minutes, then it will work for about 15-120 seconds, and start over again. There's not any pattern to it that I can tell, and there are sometimes that it will be able to ping one or several devices on the network and not any others or nothing at all, or all, and it will randomly just stop.
I'm using the Shoretel and Juniper approved best practices for the Juniper configs (VLAN'd the VoIP and Data networks separately), and I've tried it with 5 different IP230G's and 4 different computers and 3 different Juniper EX3300 series switches (24 and 48).
I'm at my wits' end at this point, and Juniper has said (after about 3 hours of testing remotely) that the switches are fine. I actually think it's something with the phone, but I just don't know.
Anyone seen anything like this before? I'll be happy to answer any questions to help me get this resolved. I've got a call in with Shoretel as well, but they're dragging their feet on getting anything done with it, and I've got to get these switches in SOON.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks SpiceHeads!
Aaron
