Hi folks, fairly new to Cisco and the world of networking with routers and switches. Have an environment with several VLANS and trying to understand/wrap my head around the following. We have one Windows DHCP server and each VLAN receives the correct IP Address according to which VLAN they are on. For example, if you are plugged into a port that is on VLAN 50 you will get a 192.50.1.x address, so on and so on.
My question and would like to learn/understand is where is this setup at? Are the MDF or IDF switches configured with a IP relay agents or some sort of helper address? Is this done at the core switch? Most of the switches I've looked at so far indicate no helper address configured when I do a sh ip int or a sh run. What if I were to replace our Windows DHCP server and had to move DHCP to another server how would I tackle this? Thanks so much in advance for your time and help!
