Network upgrade project. New equipment and network plan. 2 Physical locations and also a few laptop users that will sometimes connect VPN. Hardware setup will be 1 Physical 2012 server (running 3 Virtual Servers 1 DC DNS DHCP, 1 Application and File, 1 SQL) and 1 Physical 2008 R2 server as DC/DNS at each of the 2 locations. Sonicwall TZ 215 at each location. 10mbps/1mbps broadband primary ISP and 1.5mbps T1 backup ISP at each location. 1 NAS at each location (haven't chosen yet). Usage is light web and local custom applications. 1st location has approx 40 PCs, 6 network printers, 20 IP cameras, 20 IP phones, 4 WAPs. 2nd location has approx 20 PCs, 2 network printers, 6 IP cameras, 10 IP phones, 2 WAPs.Assume 1 user per PC. Trying to get close to 99% uptime.
Questions are:
IP Address Plan is to use 10.location#.NodeType#.1-254 (example: assuming node type #'s server=2, printer=3, wap=4 then 10.1.2.1 indicates a server at the 1st location and 10.2.3.1 indicates a printer at the 2nd location) all subnet masked to 255.0.0.0. Does this seem like a good idea?
What is a good NAS to use for local backups? I figure on needing 3 to 6 TB of space.
What am I missing (trick question, I know)? What should I be thinking about? It's a small to barely medium business but they have a lot of growth potential for multiple locations so I need to have a lot of built in scalability.
Any and ALL thoughts would be helpful!
