We're trying to provide internet access to a building on our property that is "Off the Grid", so to speak.
The building in question is located about 750 (by the crow) feet from the nearest networked building. Unfortunately the building is across a public road which we can't cross with a cable of any kind, and at the bottom of a large river valley, steep enough that a point-to-point wifi antenna on the building itself is impossible.
We've looked at several ideas - the most potential seemed to be running a POE-powered receiving antenna to the top of the ridgeline, but it's well over the 100M limit of the ethernet standard to get to the top where we would have line of sight. We tossed around the idea of mounting the unit to a tree in the area, but I don't know how practical that would be..
Any ideas? I'm delving into completely new territory now and I know this type of situation isn't too common, so even "Maybe" situations are worth my reading.. lemme know what you've got!
