Hello all,
I've been tasked with getting a new office up and running. Other than a building, which they just bought, they don't have anything else in place so we'll be starting from practically the ground up.
I'd like to get some opinions on what type of internet connection you think would be best for such a setup. This will be a small office staff of probably 5-6 people plus a small fleet of truck drivers. They are a warehouse/distribution center and will be using a SQL Server driven warehouse management system. The WMS is a Windows app for users on site, but it also has an online web portal piece for their drivers to access when picking up/delivering and also has a portal for their subscribers to login, view inventory, and place orders. It's a very lightweight application for the most part although it does allow customers to download PDFs such as invoices and upload attachments to their accounts. I would estimate probably no more than 50 people a day would be accessing the online piece.
Business cable would seem to be an attractive choice because of price and speeds offered. I've actually hosted the same application at our old office on a 15x2 cable line and it worked fine. This office is not local though, so not sure how good the cable providers are in the area.
My other concern is I'll need phone service at this site as well, and I'm considering SIP. I'll make a whole other discussion in the appropriate forum for that, but it is something I am weighing as well when picking an internet service.
I'd like to get feedback as to whether a shared service like cable would make sense or if you think I should be looking at a dedicated line. Thanks all!
