Hi,
We are getting tight with our IP address range which is 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0
Reading the following Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/255999
we have two options:
1. Resubnetting
2. Superscoping
Option 1 seems ideal but impossible to accomplish without major downtime.
Option 2 can introduce network performance issues but seems less of a pain.
We are thinking of moving to 192.168.1.0 & 192.168.2.0/255.255.254.0
I am wondering if the following is possible:
Create superscope in DHCP. Adopt 192.168.1.0 & 192.168.2.0/255.255.254.0 to our existing subnet/range. Gradually move all static and leased devices on to the new ranges and once happy remove the old 192.168.0.0/24.
This is just my theory, I have never played with superscoping and therefore need your opinion.
There well may be a better approach and would appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge/experience.
Kamil
