VPN into the company with a Dynamic IP

Hello!

My company has a few teleworkers across the US. The past IT guy was telling them they need to have a static IP from their ISP to be able to VPN. I cant seem to find an issue why they would need a Static IP. I only assumed  the company you are VPNing into needs to be static (duhh). We have a few  teleworkers that are static and some users that are dynamic and I don't see a difference.

FYI: They also have VoIP phones that connect to us.

Is there something i'm missing? Is there a reason they should have a Static IP?

Thanks! :)
