LDAP and me... so much confusion!

Hello Folks,

I hardly wanted to bother you with silly questions like this, but tons of forum postings, how-to's and best practices couldn't help me with the problem I am facing.

Perhaps it is to easy and I have a gigantic brain fart.

I am trying to connect our bizhub c35 (Printer/Copier/Scanner) so that the adressbook for "Scan via Email" gets its information via LDAP from our AD.

(I am not willing to add our new employees manually anymore. ;-) )

I read a lot about LDAP but some things aren't clear to me right now.

I created a new user in our AD for LDAP syncronization, but it doesn't seem to have the correct settings/permissions.

I checked it with LDAP Browser, because I wanted to know if a LDAP connection is possible at all.

It didn't work with my created snyc-account but it did work with my domain admin account.

When I use the admin account credentials on the bizhub for LDAP conection it won't work either.

So my two questions are:

1. Is this a problem with the printer so that the technical support could help me or do i have to check my settings/permissions/LDAP configuration (if there is any)?

I would like to ensure that my configuration is correct before I call for technical support.

2. How do I setup an "LDAP" account correctly 'cause using the domain admin account can't be the best solution?!

I hope that you might bring some light into may brain-farted darkness ;-)

Thank you in advance!

Greetings

Sebastian
