I installed an Open-Mesh AP at a restaurant and now they say the PC America POS systems are locking up. Is this really possible?
Here is the setup before I did anything.
Comcast Business router. Ethernet cable going to a Netgear router. From the Netgear:
cable to each POS system, and one cable to a printer in the kitchen. The wireless is on channel 11.
What I did: run a cable from one of the unused ethernet ports on the
comcast modem to the Open-Mesh AP and setup up on channel 1.
When I received the call this morning, I told him to unplug the new
access point and see what happens. The access point was unplugged for 3
hours, no lockups. After I arrived, I plugged the AP back in. I worked
on one POS at a time, did windows updates. an did a defrag. After about
3.5 hours, they had a lockup. While there I updated the firmware on the
netgear.
After about 3.5 hours, they had a lockup on both systems. I powered the routers and everything was working when I left.
