Free LAN chat that goes over subnets

I am in need of a powerful LAN chat that can go over subnets that don't require a ton of set up and a dedicated server. My company was using LANcechat for a while till a portion of them got separated due to a creation of a subnet. I've been trying to get Tonic to work but whatever I set up is not taking. It doesn't even search the IP address range I give it. Anyways if there are any recommendations out there please let me know. I know that there is probably another thread out there that splains this just can't find it.
