A couple of years back our company started building a small server room to house some of our internal servers. As the years have gone by, more stuff has been added and now also some co-location customers. The problem we are facing is that we didn't expecting this type of growth, and along the way we have realized that we have been neglecting some things - especially VLAN in the network.
Today we dont have any VLANs at all, and we are running 6 VMware servers with around 110 VMs.
My question is: what is the best and easiest way to implement VLAN into your production environment whithout having too much downtime? Could you possibly roll it out during a longer period of time. Perhaps by trunk VLANS on one VMware host and start migrating VMs over as you add them to different VLANs? Or are there any other ideas on how to implement it?
