I have a network where I have several managed / unmanaged layer 2 switches and some managed layer 3 switches installed. I wish to configure network for 3 different VLANs. i.e 192.168.1.x 255.255.255.0, 192.168.2.x 255.255.255.0 and 192.168.3.x 255.255.255.0. Approx. total no. of clients in my network is 300 nos. We can say 100 for each VLAN spreaded acroass the campus. All the switches are connected with copper / fiber optic backbone. Most of the edge switches are L2 managed switches and we have 2 nos. L3 switches at core level.I have referred many documents on net and slightely confused with the type of VLAN we shuold configure in our network. Please let me know how to configure. For instance I am considering only one segment and request to advise me steps I should follow to meet the communication requirement. Switch connection topology is as below.
L3 ----> L2 connectivity
Port no. 24 of L3 switch ---> Cat 6 cable---> port no. 24 of L2 switch
VLAN 1 client on L2---->
Port 1, 2 ,3 are connected with client with IP address 192.168.1.100, 101, 102 and 255.255.255.0
VLAN 2 client on L2---->
Port 4,5 are connected with client with IP address 192.168.2.100, 101, 102 and 255.255.255.0
VLAN 3 client on L2---->
Port 6 - 24 are connected with client with IP address 192.168.3.100 - 118 and 255.255.255.0
I have some servers connected with my L3 switch. Should I confire therm for saperate VLAN or can be a paret of VLAN 1.
Server access / inter VLAN access req. is as under.
- Server access to be allowed to VLAN 1 and VLAN2
- VLAN 3 should be an isolated netwrok (can not go outside or no one can get in to it)
- VLAN 1 can can not access VLAN 2 client
- VLAN 2 client can access VLAN 1 client
Please brief me how to proceed for this segment so that I can design the entire network accordingly.
