Issue:
Let's start with a brand new DNS and DHCP list i.e. no devices other than server listed. Computer A connects to network, is part of local domain, and obtains IP 192.168.xxx.100 from SBS 2011 server. Works fine all day long. User shuts down computer for night or reboots computer during the work day. Computer is assigned same IP as before. Can access LAN but now has no Internet access. Cannot ping 8.8.8.8 OR google.com.
All Windows O/S devices act the same.
All other devices, smart phones, home entertainment equipment, even printers (not listed but there are 7) will get an initial IP but once the unit is turned of, or the smart phone user leaves the office for the day, same outcome.
Troubleshooting Steps so far:
To troubleshoot Computer A is given Static IP of 192.168.xxx.101. Works great for entire day. If user restarts or shuts down same outcome. LAN access, no Internet. If IP is changed to 192.168.xxx.102 Internet comes back.
Can give other devices (excluding smart phones) static IP and since they don't often reboot they don't have an issue.
Have to clear both DHCP AND DNS with all units disconnected to start over. Happens every day.
Have created a small batch file with
netsh winsock restart
netsh int ip restart
in it to see if that helps the client in the mean time. It seems to work. They run it when they lose connection. But this does not help or explain why all devices are affected.
Any ideas? Any more info I did not include that you need?
