I set up for one of my clients a workgroup with seven workstations, 6 of them being windows 7 pro and one being XP SP3, and created afew shares on one of the win7's and configured the permissions granting all users access to the shares, i keep having issues with the XP not being able to access the shares.
Things to know:
- The permissions are identical for the XP and for a window 7 that works
- No matter which user account i use, i get the same issue
- If i restart both the client and server machine i 'can' connect from the XP to the drives but that connection only lasts up to 30 minutes
- I have already tried turning off both firewalls
- Except for malwarebytes, no other AV is installed on any of the machines
- When running 'net use' i get the following error 'System error 58 has occurred. The specified server cannot perform the requested operation'
- I already changed the "LAN Manager Authentication Level" (in secpol) to “Send LM & NTLM – use NTLMv2 session if negotiated”
I am trying to figure out what it is that's causing this issue and how other's have resolved it, i would greatly appreciate some insight to this matter.
