I have a Netgear GS748TP at a remote site (needed because of POE temperature sensors) when a tech or a user plugs in a new device, it links right away, but the device is slow to obtain a DHCP lease. This is true no matter what device it is - with a laptop, Windows will complain no Internet access is available with a yellow ! mark on the computer icon in the system tray, but about 10 seconds later it will work.
Perhaps strangely, if that same laptop associates to a wireless AP, which is plugged into the same switch, a DHCP lease is obtained instantly.
As an experiment I took a non-smart 5-port switch and plugged that into one of the GS748TP ports - anything plugged into that switch obtains a DHCP lease instantly.
It seems to me, this switch is slow to insert a port into the correct VLAN after it goes "link up" - this is simply frustrating. Any suggestions?
