I am looking for suggestions for branch routers. I am currently using Cisco 881G-W with 3G cellular failover and built-in 802.11N Wi-Fi. I would like to go to 4G failover, and I figure that this is my chance to re-envision my network.
If I stick with Cisco, I would get a 1941W with a 4G EHWIC.
In my network I currently have a private WAN connection with Ethernet handoff through my provider that connects my branches to my data centers. I use RIP or OSPF to advertise the route to my branch office. If the link goes down, as it so often does, I fail back to 3G. My provider will be converting to MPLS, so MPLS tagging support is a big plus. I have also been using the routers as the Wi-Fi access point. Our Wi-Fi needs are pretty minimal, and we have no BYOD. I do traffic shaping and DSCP/COS tagging to make sure that VoIP and other critical traffic doesn't get squeezed out.
I would love to get Meraki, but they don't support any dynamic routing protocols, which is a big deal for me. They also don't do MPLS tagging. I feel like they don't currently meet my enterprise level needs. Anyone have any other suggestions? I back haul all of my traffic to the datacenter, so firewall functionality isn't important. Getting additional L5-8 visibility would be useful, as well as centralized management.
I just spoke with Aruba Networks, and it looks like their RAP-100 remote controllers may do the job. I also know to look at Cyberoam and Aerohive. I have branches that talk to each other, so I would prefer to not have to back haul branch to branch traffic all the way back to a data center.
Suggestions and conversation please! :-)
