Are there commands that would allow me to remotely disable and enable NICs?
I've got a couple dozen students taking exams on the classroom computers. It has been requested that "the Internet be disabled". I know I could run around and pull network cables from the wall, but I thought there'd be a "spicier" way to do it. :-)
I'd like to remotely disable en-mass and then as students finish, enable the NICs and remotely copy the answer files.
I found a program that claims to do that: NIC Padlock. The price is reasonable ($15), but I'm not finding enough independent reviews to know if it's trustworthy.
I have only read-only access to the switches, so I can't disable and reenable the switches.
