Hello all,
I have to network a 3 story building as follows:
Entrance level
Floor 1 = 2 X Offices
Floor 2 = 2 X Offices
Floor 3 = 1 X Office
At the entrance level there are 10 X Cat 6 cables. 2 X Cat 6 cable leading to each office across the 3 floors. The was installed 5 years ago, building never occupied.
My client does not need all 5 offices as yet, he would like the option of leasing the space if he doesn't need it.
I stipulated 4 X Cat 6 to each wall in each office. Depending on size some offices get an extra 4 X cat 6 drop.
I am thinking it would be best to have a switch in each room and then use the Cat 6 backbone back down to the entrance area where there would be another switch connecting it all together.
With this set up, if an office was leased all that would need to be done is disconnect from the entrance switch and connect to a new DSL line and firewall. This would separate the networks.
In an ideal world all cables would lead back to a server room but its a lot of work to pull all those CAT 6 drops through concrete floors.
What do you guys think?
