We are about to start the process of cleaning our SAN up. Before we delete something we want to back in up on a hard drive first. I have drive bays on the front of my desktop so I can easily load a hard drive and it's working fine. I'm trying to figure out a way to copy the data faster. Right now I'm getting 16.5 MBPS (which isn't bad). I was looking into getting a fiber optic network adapter so we can hook our PCs directly into the fiber switch. The problem is the cards (that aren't $1000) have a transfer speed of 100 Mbps and I'm already getting 132 Mbps so this wouldn't help. I'm currently coping over 207 GBs and that's taking 5 hours and that's just the start of a very long process. Anyone have any suggestions?
