Switch - Vlan Config is removed after power outage

Hello,

The past few days, we have had two locations go down after a power outage. Once power is restored and the system comes online, our switch is missing a vlan we created. To me, I would assume that when the vlan was created, it did not get saved to the config file thus removing once the switch reboots. My question is this: When configuring a switch via CLI, once it's finished, I run the "copy run start" command to write the new config. Using the GUI to configure the switch, is there a step we need to take to insure it's saved correctly? I feel that when the vlan was create via GUI, it didn't write the new config file. If anyone can provide any pro's and con's regarding GUI vs. CLI (other than the basic info) that would be great!
